Chelsea to Challenge Man City for Vanja Milinkovic-Savic

Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a move to rival Manchester City in the race to sign an in-demand Serie A goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic. As the Blues push for Champions League qualification and aim to lift the Conference League trophy, their focus is also shifting toward squad reinforcement for next season.

Chelsea Targeting Serbia’s No.1?

According to Tuttosport, Chelsea have their sights set on Torino’s commanding shot-stopper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, who is available for a cut-price fee of just €20m (£16.73m) due to a release clause in his contract—an amount seen as excellent value for a player of his caliber.

The Serbia international has been with Torino since 2017 and has enjoyed a stellar campaign, conceding just 31 goals while keeping nine clean sheets in 28 Serie A appearances. With 151 appearances for the club and previous spells at SPAL, Ascoli, and Standard Liege, the 19-cap international has steadily built a solid reputation in European football.

A Summer Move on the Horizon?

With Torino unlikely to secure a European spot next season and Milinkovic-Savic’s contract set to expire in 2026, interest in the 6’8” goalkeeper is heating up. His impressive form has helped Torino boast one of the best defensive records in Serie A, conceding fewer goals than powerhouses like AC Milan and Lazio.

Manchester City’s potential pursuit of Milinkovic-Savic could complicate matters, especially if Ederson departs this summer. The Premier League champions could provide a more attractive proposition, but Chelsea’s proactive approach suggests they are serious about bolstering their goalkeeping options.

With Maresca reportedly keen on bringing in a new No.1, all signs point toward an intriguing summer battle between Chelsea and City for Milinkovic-Savic’s signature. Will the Blues win the race, or will City swoop in for another marquee signing? Only time will tell.
