Everton join race to sign Anthony Patterson

Everton are reportedly ready to lock horns with Liverpool over the signature of Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson.

Liverpool interest could be driven by uncertainty over Caoimhin Kelleher’s future. With Giorgi Mamardashvili already lined up as a long-term successor to Alisson Becker, Patterson could serve as an excellent backup, though regular game time might be a concern.

In contrast, Everton pursuit of the goalkeeper makes more sense from a playing time perspective. With Jordan Pickford’s form dipping and his future uncertain, Patterson could challenge for the No. 1 spot at Goodison Park.

Financially, Liverpool may hold the advantage in any transfer tussle, but Everton could offer more immediate first-team opportunities. As Sunderland will likely demand a premium for their star goalkeeper, the outcome of this battle will depend on which club can offer Patterson the best combination of career development and playing time.
