Manchester United are reportedly ready to lock horns with Arsenal over the signature of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.
The Argentina international became the first-ever Brighton player to start in a World Cup final.
The 23-year-old made a strong start to the 2022-23 campaign with the Seagulls, contributing five goals in 14 top flight appearances and helping the club climb to seventh in the league table.
A number of clubs are said to be interested in Mac Allister’s services following his rapid rise in the Premier League and at the World Cup.
A recent report claims that the Gunners have joined the race to sign the Argentine, while Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid are also said to be keen on the player.
According to Fichajes, Manchester United are now the latest club who will consider making an offer for Mac Allister at the turn of the year.
The report goes on to claim that the Red Devils do not want to ‘miss the opportunity’ of recruiting the highly-rated midfielder, who could provide good competition for Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen.
Brighton are currently under no pressure to sell their star asset, who is under contract at the Amex Stadium until June 2025.
