England crushed Black Caps in the first One Day International by a record margin of 210 runs and took a lead of 1-0 in the five ODI match series. The hosts hammered 408 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs as two of their star batsman – Jos Buttler along with Joe Root slammed centuries. Although, the bowlers proved fatal and demolished a solid looking world cup finalist for 198 mere runs with 18.5 overs to spare in the game.
However, the kiwis are capable of hitting back in the five match ODI series and they might surprise England in the upcoming match, at Kennington Oval, London on Friday, June 12.
New Zealand’s Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson were the main batsman in second an innings with 57 and 45 runs whereas Martin Guptill, Brendon McCullum, Grant Elliott and Luke Ronchi should get accustomed and adjust themselves with the English conditions.
Trent Boult impressed with the ball by taking four wickets as Mitchell McClenaghan, Grant Elliott, Matt Henry, Nathan McCullum and Mitchell Santner are taking care of rest of the bowling.
